Use the Public Library

If you're tired of spending money on movie rentals, can't afford the latest album, or want to catch up on the trendiest new novels, here's an easy solution. Head to your local library. This is probably the quickest way to cut your entertainments costs, and it works. Many libraries have shifted away from lending just books and now offer music and DVD rentals. You might find something you've always meant to watch, or discover something new. Give it a try.

Not only do libraries offer DVDs and music, they offer other great services such as:

  • Public computers with internet,
  • Newspapers,
  • Magazines,
  • Job search resources,
  • Children's and adult programs, and
  • Books, of course.
Does the public library cost money for membership?

Many public libraries are free to local taxpayers in the community.  If you are a non-resident, you may even be able to get a limited membership for a nominal fee.  Also, if you fail to return library resources by the due-date, you will probably be charged a library fine, but this is usually a small amount.

How do you find a library?

Since many public libraries are run by a local government, search the internet for keywords like "public library" and your local town, city, or county name.  If that doesn't work, use social media to ask friends.
